To quote Cecil Edwards, my favourite author on Persian carpets: the Serabend is an honest carpet. It is a sturdy, double-wefted fabric, woven with the Turkish knot. Warps and wefts are cotton, the latter dyed blue. The villagers use their own wool or buy it in Burujird from the Luri tribesmen. They dye their own yarns.....
